Who is Jennie?

Jennie Hamel author and illustrator of children’s picture books and artist who works in several media including oils, ceramics, mixed methods and textiles. She is the granddaughter of artist Genevieve (Bebe) Hamel one of the original Petticoat Painters of Sarasota, Florida.

Having worked for many years as a chef at Maresca’s in Sergeantsville, NJ, Jennie is now concentrating solely on creating children’s books and other fine art projects. Jennie has exhibited in several local shows, two of which were revied by The Princeton Packet Her hooked rug “Wayne the Cat” based on a mother’s day card from 6 year old niece Chasie, was featured in Rug Hooking Magazine.

Jennie lives nearer to Philadelphia than New York with some four footed helper buddies and occasional models. Jennie’s children’s books are available online through Barnes and Noble online and Amazon. For inquiries into her other pieces please contact Jennie via email provided.

Her next exhibit will be Tyler Park Center for the Arts Members juried show in March, 2018.
